The St. Petersburg Theatre on Vasilevsky island is isolated not only in a direct, but in the figurative sense, too. We are situated away from the traditional St. Petersburg theatre routes and I see many advantages of it. The spectators that come to us are coming on purpose, specially prepared and not just passing by. We are mainly visited by the intelligentsia, they do not have a collective mind and do not follow a fashion. And taking into consideration the age of our theatre, I believe that we still have at least 20 years ahead for the growth. Therefore, we do not envy the success of the others and do not fall into despair from failures. We can still afford ourselves the luxury of trial and error.
